Life Beyond Roopali

My discussions with my friends always ends with, 'ok now I am going to roopali', or 'let us catch up at roopali or how about breakfast at roopali'?

Any road in Pune leading home goes 'via' roopali, so I've to visit this place daily, I am helpless :)

Roopali is an old South-Indian restaurant in Pune on F.C. Road which started in 1951 (then called Cafe Madras) is famous for delicious Sambhar, Chutney, and of course Idli, Dosa, Uttappam and Filter Coffee.

This place is a famous 'adda' for regular goers like me and hundred others. You get to see same set of people, placing same the orders in their special customized way, calling their favorite waiters for years now. My favorite is 'Medium Strong coffee in a glass' and one more medium strong coffee in a glass. :)

Each waiter over here has own fan following , and has a special bond with each of his regular customers. They discuss everything from politics to cricket they are also your messengers.... They will tell your friend that so and so was here and has just left for such and such place, or if your waiting outside they will tell you that the group/friends you are looking for are already inside.

This restaurant has its own rules and regulations, you are allowed to hang out for hours with just a cup of coffee, or you can share one table with multiple groups, you can have cross talks ,and take active part in discussions with some other group and so on.....

About this blog: I don't know what I am going to write here, but this name struck me while talking to one of my friend and then I actually started wondering, how my life will be without roopali....................................................................................
Let us see...
